Teacher, author, painter, sculptor, musician, composer and Orchestra Director, , Irenee Lemieux was a multi talented artist
Born in Armagh in Bellechasse on August 3 1931, he lived in Quebec as of 1945 until his death, on May 10, 2005.


CAREER IN MUSIC


His studies related to the piano, painting, the counterpoint, the direction of orchestras, harmony, competition, arts in general.
He attended the School of music of the University Laval, the Ecole Normal in Laval, the Academy of music of Quebec, the Academy of music of Montreal.  Moreover, he took courses from Nadia Boulanger in Paris.
Irenee Lemieux was a professor as well as school Principal in the area of Quebec.
During 42 years, he was responsible for Sinfonia which he created in 1963. He directed more than 323 concerts with this unit. He also directed the Chamber orchestra of Radio-Canada as well as the Academy of music of Montreal.
Irenee Lemieux composed symphonies, cantatas and ballets inspired by the Huron folklore (Cabir-Couba, the summer of the Indians, Feast day, etc) and several other works of which: a small continuation for string orchestra, a rondino, Huron music for the flute, dances for orchestra and Canadian dances. His cantatas have as subject’s the poems of Gilles Vigneault, Marie Laberge, Emile Nelligan, Georgette Lacroix and Dina Bélanger.


CAREER IN ARTS


Irenee Lemieux was also a painter, sculptor, illustrator and editor. He followed courses at l’École d’art de Fontainebleau in France.
Since 1967, he made more than 40 exhibits both in Quebec and abroad, including France, Germany, England, United States as well as Romania, in particular in the towns of Paris, Nice, Fatty, Antibes, Cannes, Lyon, Cincinnati, Austin, Baden-Baden and Nottingham.
He was member of international artistic associations such as International Guild Arts of Monte Carlo and the Academy of Arts, sciences and letters of Paris.
