Born in Marseilles, on the shores of the Mediterranean, Gaëtane Duino known as Gatou nourishes a passion for drawing since childhood.
Later, as a self taught artist, she will explore other techniques, such as oil, acrylic, watercolour, but will return constantly to oils, her first love.

Henceforth, if Gatou succeeds happily when painting custom portraits, still lifes, landscapes and water scenes, Gatou expresses herself more and more using the knife on canvas, which gives another dimension to her works;  we are in suggested and not in hyperrealism.

By this new approach, the artist makes visible all the aspects of “being” and, to once again use Cézanne’s expression “think as paintings” while also allowing the “readers of her canvases” to create their own interpretation of subjects, and make them their own.
